The ceremony which was chaired by the head boy of the set, Kazeem Lawal, who was duly represented by the Project Coordinator, Odunowo Toyin, had in attendance some of the past students of the citadel.
The event which started with the Egan senior secondary school, witnessed a large turn as the students turned out in their numbers to grace the occasion. The anchor/master of ceremony of the day, in person of Ogunleye Moses, encouraged the students never for once relent in their effort to succeed. In his opening address, he encouraged them to always look on the brighter side of life.
The principal of the senior secondary school, Mrs. Ede-Agege R.E, thanked the visiting alumni for their homecoming. She expressed her heart felt gratitude towards the gesture as she prayed for more of the activities. She specially recognized Odunnowo Toyin, being the only female in the train for her dedication and commitments. In recognition of the service of the principal, award of excellence was presented to her by the alumni.
Dr. Sulaimon cautioned the students against the bad effects of keeping bad companies. He encouraged them to be of good conducts while maintaining good moral uprights at all times. He charged them to always be good ambassadors of Egan Junior Grammar school.
The principal of Junior Grammar school, Mrs. Ogun Esther Olubunmi, was full of praises in her remarks towards the event. She thanked the brains and organizers of the event for not forgetting their academic source. She prayed for more strengths and vigour, hoping that the event will be an annual thing. Award of excellence was presented to her in recognition of her service to the school. To further show her appreciation, a typed letter of appreciation was presented by the principal on behalf of the school.
The areas of recognitions for the senior students were the outstanding performers in the three departments (Science, Commercial, Arts), while the areas of recognitions for the junior school was the overall best students, (Yusuf Khadijat Omotoke and Azubike Mmesoma Rita), the most creative student (Chidera Emmaneul), and the best behaved (Enigbokan Semilore).
In his vote of thanks, the most creative student expressed his gratitude and appreciation. He promised to be more determined in his studies.
On her final thought, Mrs. Ogun Esther Olubunmi, made some verbal requests, germane among these is a computer laboratory. She expressed her wish for the school to have a computer laboratory has this will further enhance the learning of ICT in the school.
